Work in progress

Although I really started working on some fanciful idea of having my own web site with my own domain back in early 2008, I never really dedicated any time to actually making much progress, other than researching some Open Source Content Management Systems, especially the ones my hosting company have auto-installation tools for (ie Joomla, Drupal and a couple of others).

Then back in Feb 2009 when my domain registration reminder came through, I thought I really should make more of an effort. But by that time my workload at uni was getting to be a tad heavier, so once again I put it off...

But now, it's the summer recess and I really have no excuse.

Plenty of people have commented on some of the photos I've taken for the past couple of years, so why not pluck up some courage and open them up to the big, wide, cold, harsh, critical world?

So I chose Drupal. It seemed to be the most active and supported Open Source (ie "free") CMS around. I had a quick play with Joomla but it just didn't feel as flexible to my mind - this is not necessarily a logical decision, just a gut one. I like gut decisions. Br one or two, they've served me well.

However, getting a website to look and do exactly what you want it to do isn't always as straightforward as you'd think. Unless, I guess, you've been designing and building websites for years?

So if you're reading this, please bear with me while I get things working in some kind of sensible, easy to use layout. I foresee many changes ahead.

Please feel free to leave some constructive criticisms, assuming, that is, you can :)
